#PunyaDhamYatra remains a cherished memory from my journey of public service. The programme was conceptualised by the Tourism Department, Government of Assam, with the noble objective of facilitating pilgrimage tours across India for senior citizens of Assam. At that time, the department was led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma ji as the Hon’ble Tourism Minister.
During the financial year 2017–18, the Tourism Department set a target of enabling around 3,000 senior citizens to visit four sacred destinations—Jagannath Puri, Mathura–Vrindavan, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and Vaishno Devi.
The highly ambitious scheme was executed by Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., and I felt truly blessed to be associated with this holy initiative. By that time, seven groups of senior citizens had already availed the benefits of the scheme, and on that day, the 8th batch commenced their Punya Dham Yatra.
I still remember the warmth and dignity with which the pilgrims of the 8th batch were greeted by the then Hon’ble Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., Sri Jayanta Malla Barua ji. It was a moment filled with faith, gratitude, and collective joy—one that continues to stay close to my heart. #AwesomeAssam
National Dialogues on Strengthening Legal Prosecution

On 21/12/2024, I had the honour of representing the Assam State Commission for Women at the administrative building of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. I attended the National Dialogues on Strengthening Legal Prosecution for Women under the New Criminal Jurisprudence, organised by National Law University Delhi in collaboration with the Women’s Collective Forum, with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The programme offered a valuable platform for learning and reflection, and I was particularly privileged to hear the insightful perspectives of Dr. Kuladhar Saikia, Retired Director General of Assam Police and Former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha.
